Description Cladonia deformis (L.) Hoffm., 1796 (photograph of a herbarium specimen) Growing on moss along the shore of Lake Superior in Neys Provincial Park, ca. 15 miles N of Marathon on Route 17, Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada; collected and identified by Richard E. Riefner (No. 81-617, 2 Aug 1981); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden. (millimeter scale)
