| Description |
English: Looking down on City of Cork Beach and the mangroves near low tide, sometime in the 1950s before the Harbour Bridge was built. Across Shoal Bay is Takapuna, Hauraki area and Bayswater. Reclamation is underway to form the northern motorway. Four people in foreground watching the reclamation from the Heath farm.
Historical note: Sulphur Beach in Shoal Bay (on the eastern side of Northcote Point) was lost through land reclamation during the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the 1950s. Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections N0113021 |
