Description

City Hall and State Bank, Valparaiso, Indiana

Date: 1911 Source Type: Postcard Publisher, Printer, Photographer: Lowenstine & Sons, Portage Publishing Company Postmark: January 3, 1911, Valparaiso, Indiana Collection: Steven R. Shook Remark: The Valparaiso City Hall, the white structure with the twoer seen in the image, was erected in 1878 during Mayor John N. Skinner's administration. This structure was located on Indiana Avenue. The First National Bank, constructed in 1902, is the structure seen to the right in this image. Located at 14 Indiana Avenue, the front of this building was added to an older structure to provide a more stately appearance. The law offices of Crumpacker & Sons was located in the second story of the bank.
