| Description |
English: Cist and possible kerb-stones. This site is described in the Canmore database (see end-note).
Just behind the large stone visible at the bottom of the image, a rectangular opening can be seen, although it is rather obscured by vegetation, and is better seen in close-up: 915099. That pit is a cist (a burial chamber lined with stone slabs); it would originally have had a stone lid, and was concealed in the heart of a cairn. Behind the pit, two other stones are visible (these are located about halfway up the photo, and are positioned left and right of centre). These are the orthostats, the possible kerb-stones, that are mentioned in the Canmore database entry. |
