Français : "Les nièces du cardinal Mazarin sont identifiées à plusieurs reprises prenant la pose de notre Dame en Diane chasseresse, dans une tenue identique et coiffées des mêmes luxueuses plumes d'autruches rouges et blanches. Un portrait d'Hortense attribué à Gascard (des anciennes collections du Metropolitan Museum, vente Sotheby's, Paris, 25 juin 2008 n°41), un autre de Laure, duchesse de Mercœur en Minerve (collection privée, France) et dernier d'Olympe, comtesse de Soissons en Athéna attribué à Mignard (localisation inconnue) en témoignent. La présence de deux Cavaliers King Charles Spaniel, ainsi nommés en l'honneur de Charles II Angleterre, nous oriente vers Hortense Mancini. Le prince et futur roi demande en effet sa main en 1659, main que le cardinal Mazarin refuse voulant lui éviter une mésalliance. La duchesse trouvera finalement refuge dans les bras de ce royal amant en 1675, après avoir fui la France et son mari trop jaloux."
