NPS/Patrick Myers Cinnamon Teals are small, richly colored dabbling ducks found occasionally in wetlands west of the dunefield. They are known for teamwork: swimming as a group, the front teals stir up food with their webbed feet while the rear teals feed. After awhile, they switch places so that all get their fill. Cinnamon Teals are one of 250 bird species at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The #YearOfTheBird celebration continues throughout 2018! |
