Description

Um dos prédios mais representativos do conjunto arquitetônico de Pirenópolis, o Cine-Teatro Pireneus foi construído em 1919 pelo padre Santiago Uchoa, preocupado em oferecer à população um espaço destinado à encenação de peças teatrais e outras opções de entretenimento. Assim, desde o início, o prédio tinha a dupla função de cinema e teatro. Foi tombado pelo Iphan em 1989.

Em condições físicas precárias, o Cine-Teatro Pireneus desabou, em 1984, ficando de pé apenas a fachada. A reconstrução do prédio teve início em 1999.

A re-inauguração do cinema aconteceu em 23 de fevereiro de 2002.
