Summary
[edit]DescriptionCieszyn - Kościół św. Marii Magdaleny - Ołtarz główny.jpg |
Polski: Kościół pod wezwaniem Świętej Marii Magdaleny został wzniesiony w trzynastym wieku dzięki wstawiennictwu książąt piastowskich. Wejście ozdobione jest wczesnogotyckim ostrołukowym portalem. Świątynia została zbudowana na planie krzyża łacińskiego z wydłużonym prezbiterium i krótką nawą połączoną z dwukondygnacyjnym chórem muzycznym. Od północy do nawy przylegają dwie kaplice. W pierwszej zlokalizowano ostrołukowy portal gotycki umieszczony nad wejściem oraz barokowy ołtarz. Natomiast w drugiej kaplicy zlokalizowano duży barokowy krucyfiks. Wnętrze kościoła zdobi późnobarokowy ołtarz główny wykonany w 1794 roku przez morawskiego artystę Andrzeja Kaspra Schweigla z Brna. Zabytkowy ołtarz został ufundowany przez księcia Alberta. Obraz na późnobarokowym ołtarzu został namalowany w 1858 roku w Wenecji. Dekoracja jest utrzymana w stylu późnego baroku. W osi nawy poprzecznej wisi kryształowy żyrandol. W uskokach transeptu zachowały się gotyckie służki z rzeźbami figuralnymi.
