Description
Polski: Jak podaje Norbert Dariusz Tomaszewski w książce „Historia Ciechanowca do 1989 roku” na str. 390-391: „M. Ciechanowiec jest spalone przez okupantów niemieckich w 1944 r. w zabudowaniach w 65 %, ludność jest wyniszczona w czasie wojny do 50 %, gdyż przed wojną m. Ciechanowiec liczyło 7.500 mieszkańców, obecnie liczy 3.700 osób. Ta ostatnia cyfra była zawyżona - według spisu z 5 stycznia 1945 r. ludność miasta liczyła 3172 osoby (3158 Polaków i 14 Białorusinów)”. Administracyjnie przed wojną lewobrzeżna cześć Ciechanowca należała do pow. Bielsk, prawobrzeżna do pow. Wysokie Mazowieckie. Od 1952 do 1972 w pow. Siemiatycze a następnie w pow. Wysokie Mazowieckie.
