English: Chwarel Ladas This is one of the earliest quarries to be worked in the district. Slate was transported by boat to Cwm-y-glo SH5562 for carting to Caernarfon. The Padarn railway passes through the site. Ladas is not a Welsh word, rather it is an acronym for Lady Alice Duff Assheton-Smith, the land owner's wife. |
