English: This photo was taken by me (Albert Vaughn) on September 1, 2019. It is a photo of The Church of The Presidents (final resting place of John Adams and wife Abigail, John Quincy Adams and wife Louisa Cathrine)
The photo was taken from the rear of The Hancock Cemetery with Quincy City Hall to the left. Between The Church of The Presidents (United First Parish Church) and The Hancock Cemetery is the recently opened Hancock Adams Common. The Church, Cemetery and City Hall are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Quincy, Massachusetts. The Church was designed by Alexander Parris and completed in 1828 The Town Hall was designed by Solomon Willard (builder of Bunker Hill Monument) The Hancock Cemetery is the final resting place of many prominent Americans including Revolutionary War Veterans.Both buildings were built with Quincy Granite. Quarrying of Granite was a major industry for quite some time. Quincy Granite was used around the world in buildings and monuments. |
