| Description |
English: Church of St John the Evangelist, Fleet Walk, Torquay This church - St John the Evangelist - was no doubt built, like many others, to offer a rebuke from above to those people whose behaviour at the holiday resort was not approved of by the Christian religion. No doubt, too, it served to inspire its devotees, and raise their thoughts to the divine. It certainly indicates that the Church was able to raise large sums of money construct its buildings. |
