Summary
[edit]DescriptionChurch of St James, Bicknor - geograph.org.uk - 5036.jpg |
English: Church of St James, Bicknor. The church is constructed of dressed ashlar blocks of chalk including the north and south arcade columns, arches and carved capitals. The outside is rendered and coated with flint chippings. Restored in the mid-nineteenth century by Bodley the interior is almost untouched and dates from c1130. Frosts during restoration work did much damage to the chalk blocks and many had to be replaced. St James has no running water and no electricity. |
