Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Alba Fucens is the site of a partially excavated Roman town. It featured a temple of Apollo at a high point overlooking it. The modern Church of St. Peter was constructed in large part of materials recovered from the Roman temple, including the columns inside and much of the exterior walls. The church was toppled in an earthquake, and when restored, the Roman-era inscription - lower center - was turned outward to show an example of the re-used Roman-era materials.
