Summary

Description

This was built as the Sunday school for the Wesleyan chapel at Rodley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Both buildings were designed by Alfred Hill Thompson and completed in 1871. In 1973 the chapel was demolished; its site became a car park. The school building has been converted into a chapel, which is now named the Church in Rodley.

A view of the present Church in Rodley, from Wesley Street. You can see the steep slope of Wesley Street, down towards the car park (site of former chapel). This may explain how the churchwarden's residence could have been built beneath the former chapel; it would have windows at the lower end of the slope.
