Description
English: Church at Port Arthur, Tasmania; had just been through a very dry summer and bushfires everywhere ( Jan 2016). Smoke haze was in the air.

Port Arthur, Penal Goal, SE Tasmania... Australia was English gentry answer to UK overcrowding, disease, & disorder. Ship the poor (that survived the sea jouney) as govt slaves to the to expand their empire. If you didnt like being a convict, you're sent to Tasmania, & locked up here...or freed if useful after 5 yrs or so to make your way in a strange land of fires, 'drought and flooding rains'.
