| Description |
The military training area in Chur is already indicated on the map from 1881 as a parade ground. It is referred to by the military as the best infantry training area in Switzerland. The target area on the Calanda hillside was developed with the construction of this tunnel and a new road in the 60s. The tunnel has a length of 120 m. At first I thought it would have been shorter in the past, but that's an inaccuracy in older maps. Today it is part of a restricted hiking trail, the so-called Panorama Trail. It is not listed in the Swiss hiking trail directory and only regionally known. The opening times are published by the army in the Internet and are usually from Friday evening to Monday morning. This special trail runs 200 meters above Chur and is interesting in clear weather to take pictures of Chur from above. Switzerland, Oct 20, 2018.
