Description
English: Chubb's Almshouses, Dorchester. Matthew Chubb, a goldsmith, was one of the most influential people in Dorchester. His almshouses on the corner of Friary Lane and North Square were founded in 1620, several years later than those he and his wife Margaret had already bestowed upon the towns of Shaftesbury and Crewkerne - please see 1139097 and 1140299.
