Description |
English: Christ on the Mount of Olives. This painting illustrates the Bible verses in Matthew 23:37-39. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. 38And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. 39 For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!’ - This is my photo of a print that is hanging in our living room. According to multiple online sources the name of the painting is Christus am Olberg (Christ on the Mount of Olives) and the artist is Giovanni. This photo was edited by me for clarity and to correct some imperfections that are on our print. The original painting is wider than the print that we own and apparently the artists signature, Giovanni, is located on the lower right corner over some pale rocks. As far as I know the print/painting qualifies for Public Domain due to its age and there is no copyright information on it. If this is incorrect, please advise. It seems that the artist who signed his paintings with the pseudonym "Giovanni" is actually Josef Untersberger, an Austrian artist. |
