DescriptionChristmas tree Pomul de Craciun.jpg |
In Romania, Silver Fir still is the most commonly used species as a Christmas tree. For some reason, during the communist regime, when I was a child, Silver Fir was hard to find and Norway Spruce was the most commonly sold as a Christmas tree, but not the most popular. Everbody hated it because its needles were falling so quickly and in large amounts. I remeber how persistently my parents were looking for Silver Fir, not Norway Spruce. I am aware that the Christmas tree is an imported tradition in Romania, but it is a tradition nevertheless. Therefore, I am adding this to the "Romanian tradition" set. |
