Summary

[edit]
Description
العربية: عيد الميلاد.
English: Ready for the holiday with festive headgears and bags of glittery ornaments provided today by the daycare staff, they've just stepped out of the kindergarten block with all their similarly adorned friends, each with respective mom walking them serenely to near-by homes. Kids registered for that kindergarten, on the seam-line of Downtown Haifa and eastern Hadar, aren't necessarily from Christian families; in this particular neighbourhood, in fact, the Arab population is rather quite overwhelmingly Muslim -- however, Christian–Muslim differences are traditionally effaced in daily life of the Arabs in Israel or at least not emphasized, all in favour of a trans-religious solidarity, practised in a great variety of circumstances among the major ethnic minority in the Jewish country. Certainly at this early age, few social frames and networks exist as Muslim or Christian apart; leaders, educators and ordinary citizens alike comply however with the unofficial public need to forge a unified, trans-sect, "national" collective to work against what is perceived as the Israeli hegemony -- which demands an ability to internally agree more than disagree, and bridge over gaps that are generally unbridged elsewhere in the Arab World.
