Description
Lars Mathiesen (1769-1852) acquired the tavern Haabet in Allégade 7 in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen in 1804. The portrait is probably based on earlier drawings of him. Deichmann did a series of paintings of eccentrics from Copenhagen, called Gamle Bekjendte fra København ("Old Acquintances from Copenhagen").
