Summary
[edit]DescriptionChorlton Old Hall, Chorlton - geograph.org.uk - 118150.jpg |
English: Chorlton Old Hall, Chorlton. View on 35 deg bearing from adjacent public footpath (Chorlton 4). Now a dairy farm, Chorlton Old Hall's main claim to fame is as the birthplace of John Caldecott (1813-1875), the father of Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886) a well-known Victorian illustrator of children's books. It is set in undulating countryside just east of the flat flood plain of the River Dee. Not to be confused with Chorlton Hall! SJ4648 |
