Description
English: -Jong Klarng and Jong Kham Temples are just like twin temples. They are located in the same area situated at the center of Mae Hong Sorn City. They are considered as a cultural identity of Shan culture of this city. In addition to their magnificent art both of them are the centers of cultural activities of Mae Hong Sorn people. - Jong Kham Temple was built in B.E. 2370 (1287). It is an ancient temple that was built in the art style of Shan. The prominent architectural point of this temple is the 9-layer roof in the castle style. An important religious place in this temple is Vihara Lung Por Tho. Luang Por Tho is the largest Buddha statue in Mae Hong Sorn and was built by Myanmar craftsmen. At Jong Klarng Temple there is a prominent sermon hall in a monastery in the mixed styles of Myanmar and Shan architectures. It is a wooden building. Inside the building there are 200 vistas of Murals that are painted in color on the glass. It is the story about Buddhist History. In addition in this temple there is a pagoda (Kong Mu) which is considered as the most beautiful shaped pagoda in the Myanmar style.
