6 CHOICE SELECTIONS IN PLANTS. F. R. PIERSON CO., TARRYTOWN-ON-HUDSON, N. Y.
Text Appearing After Image:
Hardy Miniature Monthly Roses. New roses from Japan, that wonderland of horticultural beauty. They bloom in immense clusters 30 to 50 together on a sin- gle stem. Delightfully fragrant. The flowers are of singular purity, and resemble miniature camellias. They are wonderfully beautiful, and bloom constantly, and are entirely dis- tinct from every other rose, and must be- come very popular. A rose that will thrive where others fail, flourishing in the house, and planted in the garden, are a mass of bloom all the time. Thev are elegant, blooming as freely as a geranium, and require as little care. They are perfectly hardy. Clothilde Soupert.âIf there is any ever-blooming rose especially adapt- ed for the window garden and winter blooming, or for planting in the garden for summer flowers, it is this dainty flower from the gardens of Luxembourg. It has all the wonderful freedom of bloom peculiar to the older varieties of the Polyantha class; its branches being perfect massesof flowers throughout the greater part of summer. In color it is a soft flesh, deepening to pink in the center; quite double; and beautifully imbricated. The largest flowered sort in this class. Flora.âA charming new Polyantha Rose: flowers quite large; very full and delightfully perfumed, and borne in immense clusters; color ivory white, delicately tinged with soft rosy blush.* Anne Marie de Montravel.âNot new, but very scarce. One of the most charming of all; pure snowy white, very double, borne in immense clusters, so that the plant seems fairly covered. The above illustration was made from a drawing from this variety; delicately perfumed. Price of the above 3 sorts, strong plants, 2,'^-inch pots, 20c. ea"ch: $2 per dozen. Extra strong plants, 3^-inch pots, 30c. each; §3.00 per dozen. Perle D'Or.â Very light saffron yellow; very beautiful: similar to Cecil Brunei- m form, but deeper and richer in color. Little Pet.âPure white, very double and full, blooming in large clusters. Cecil Bruner.â Rosy pink, beautifully formed buds, of exquisite shape. Price of the above 3 sorts, strong plants, in 2K- inch pots, 10c. each; $1.00 per dozen. Extra sized plants, 332-inch pots, 20c. each; $2.00 per dozen. MOSS ROSES. Highly prized for the beautiful buds, which appear to be covered with moss; highly scented. White Bath.âBy far the best white Moss Rose. â Vihite, sometimes tinged flesh color; attractive in bud or when fully open. Crested Moss.âDeep pink-colored buds, sur- rounded with mossy fringe, and crested; fragrant and very beautiful. Price, large blooming plants, 40c. each: $4.00 per dozen. If to be sent by mail, on account of their large size, 3c. each must be added for postage and packing.
