Description

chocolate drops, Caulanthus pilosus, basal leaves, California, Sierra Nevada, Toms Place, Rock Creek - Owens Valley drainage, elevation 2240 m (7355 ft). Also visible are cones and leaves of singleleaf pinyon pine (Pinus monophylla).

This distinctive mustard family member is essentially restricted to the Great Basin of Nevada and adjacent states, where it is widespread and common.
