| Description |
English: Chipping Campden wheel wash Looking towards the gates of Campden House. The depression to the right of the main roadway, beside the stone posted railings, was a wagon wheel wash. This dates back to before the days of hard surfaced roadways and was for carts entering the town to wash off the mud from the fields before entering the streets of the town. A sort of predecessor of the car wash as it were! |
