Description
English: Chintz palampore with a Japanese-style design of pine trees, rocks, ponds and birds, Coromandel Coast, India, made for the Dutch market, early 18th century. Cotton, printed, mordant and resist dyed. Loaned for exhibition in Kyoto during the 2012 Gion Matsuri Festival, at which the 60th anniversary of Indian-Japanese diplomatic relations was commemorated.
