Description
Deutsch: Das Chinesenviertel in der Schmuckstraße und teilweise auch der benachbarten Talstraße entstand Anfang der 20-er Jahre (1920) als sich hier vermehrt chinesische Seeleute niederließen. Einige eröffneten Restaurants, Lokale oder Wäschereien. Viele von ihnen wurden während der NS-Zeit bei der Chinesenaktion festgenommen und in Lagern oder dem Gestapo-Gefängns Fuhlsbüttel interniert, misshandelt oder getötet. Seit 1990 erinnert ein Opferdenkmal an die chinesischen Staatsbürger, es stammt von Michael Batz und Gerd Stange. Näheres zu den Opfern dokumentieren auch die dort verlegten Stolpersteine.
