Acalypha (See illustration.) A straight, stout, branching plant clothed with large green leaves of good sub- stance, and out of the axil of every leaf grows a spike of blossom, glowing crim- son in color. Ten to twen- ty' inches long, as large around as one's finger and looks like a long piece of rich, red chenille cord.
