16 JOHN LEWIS CHILDS, INC., FLORAL PARK, N. Y. Rare Plant Novelties; See Colored Sketch on Back Cover. Salvia Greigi. Rosy Scarlet. Although this is a hard wooded shrub, it grows but little, if any, larger than Salvia Splendens, about two feet branching freely, and hardly ever out of bloom. It stands alike the cold winters and hot dry summers of Kansas, and the severe cold ol New England. It is perfectly hardy in all parts of the United States, and a great drouth and heat resister. It is a native of the cold, dry, arid mount- ains of Texas. Instead of a long tubular flower like other Salvias, the flower pf Greigi is short with a wide spread- ing face that is of the softest, sweetest rosy scarlet color ever seen. A soft restful brilliancy instead of the harsh glare of the bedding scarlet Salvias. In addition to being a perpetual blooming small shrub for the garden, it makes a most superb pot plant, blooming profusely, especially during winter. In fact valuable as it is for the open ground, we are inclined to think it still more useful and beautiful as a pot plant. It flowers at once from small cutting plants, and has an agreeably fragrant foliage somewhat like the Lemon Verbena. 25c. each; 5 for $1. Salvia Greigi, Snow White. This is a pure white form of Salvia Greigi, (no differ- ence except in color) which we are introducing this year for the first. It is the greatest plant novelty for 1916. Good plants, 60c. each; 2 for $1.00. Double Geranium, Pink Pearl. This is a seedling of our production and by an odds the very finest double pink Geranium yet seen. In fact in vigor, blooming qualities, size and color, it is the finest Geranium in cultivation to-day. *or bedding, it is the freest and finest grower on all soils and under all conditions, and the most marvelous bloomer. No less than two hundred clusters of bloom have been counted at one time on one plant. Trusses large, florets very large of the Bruant type, and color that soft exquisite shade of pink seen only in Enchantress Carnation. Greatest of bedding sorts on account of its wonderful growing quali- ties. 40c. each; 3 for $1.00. Single Geranium, Beacon Light. This also originated in our place and is offered now for the first time. It is the finest and freest blooming single sort as Pink Pearl is among the double Geraniums. Color dark rich scarlet, big size and perfect form. Stands all sorts of weather and climate. 30c. each; 3 for 75c. One each of Beaeon Light and Pink Pearl for 60c. Campanula Isophylla- falling stors. A superb pot plant which flowers profusely during late summer, fall and early winter. It is the most beautiful trailing plant we ever saw; the numerous branches hanging over the sides of the pot, a perfect mass of great big star-like blossoms, white or nlue. No pot plant is more easily grown in any situation, indoors or out; strong and vigorous at all times, with clean, handsome foliage and of prodigious blooming qualities. It is one of the most novel and beautiful plants we have seen in many years. The two colors contrast flnelv; flowers alhte ex- cept in color, but the foliage is a little different. We earnestly recommend it to all. Large White—Pure white, star-shaped. Exceedingly beau- tiful. 25 c. each. Large Blue—Flowers Just like the above except in color, which is a fine blue. 25 c. each. New Double Flowered Orange. For sweetness, for purity and for exquisite loveliness the Orange blossom has held undisputed sway for ages. Is a double Orange blossom superior to a single? Yes, as much so as a double rose is superior to a single rose, and this is the first introduction of a double-flowered Orange. A plant of dwarf, bushy growth, suitable for pots, but in orange sections it is the most beautiful flowering tree for the garden evr seen, i-iowers as large as a silver half dollar, full, double and of much greater fragrance than the single: Blooms profusely as a small plant in pots, like the Otaheite, nut always growing larger, and it bears fruit too. One of the most important novelties we ever brought out. Price, fine young plants, 50c. each. Large plants, $1.00 each.

Perpetual , Blooming CH^YSANTH^loryo) A bed of perpetual flowering Chrysanthemum, "Glory of Seven Oaks," in August and September. (See page ill.)' This photo gives also a good idea of "Snow Cap," our big snow white variety, blooming in the open during September. It is the grandest outdoor hardy 'Mum. All hardy varieties are now very popular for border planting and make a grand fall display. (See page 104.)
