SPRING CATALOGUE OF SEEDS, BULBS AND PLANTS FOR 1908, 113 ^(eW Pyramidal ioxes.
Text Appearing After Image:
Those who remember the thin-petal- ed white and the dull-hued purplePer- ennial Phlox of old-fashioned gardens can scarcely recognize these new Phloxes as the same flowers. These ( new varieties are in bloom from June until frost, and the individual florets are twice the size of the old time Phlox, and the shades of color the brightest, richest and clearest. There are no finer or more useful peren- nials than the Perennial Phloxes, or which will give more complete satis- faction. The varieties we offer are new and fine, and the plants we send out will bloom magnificently the coming summer. They are cheap and we hope that all our customers will plant them. Pyramidal White-A plant of sturdy compact growth, bearing enor- mous pyramidal panicles of great, snow-white blossoms, Pyramidal Crimson-Like the above, with same great blossoms, but of brightest crimson color. The two sorts contrast finely. They bloom all summer long, and are equal to Hydrangeas in majes- tic beauty. Pyramidal Oculata—"White; large crimson eye. Showy. " I/aveader—Delicate lavender; white center. " Rose—Large, bright rose. " Blush—Blush tinted: extra large and fine. Wine Red—Splendid deep, rich wine red color. Striped—White and crimson beautifully varie- SGc. each; any 3 for 50c,; the 8 for $1,00. Mixed Perennial Phloxes—20 sorts, $1.00 per dozen. SXJBTJI/ATA OR CARPET PHI,OX. Phlox Subulata—One of the finest of low, tuft-growing plants, for carpeting under trees, around rock-work, edging beds, etc. Early in spring is very showy, with its cloud of bright, pink blossoms. We do not understand why this is not more widely grown, for it is perfectly hardy, and once planted will take care of itself. Subulata Pure White-Superb novelty.and contrasts charm- ingly with the pink variety. 15c, each; the 2for 25c,: $1.00 per dozen. Phlox Subulata is one of the grandest early spring flow- ers we have. Particularly effective for masses and car- pet bedding.
