Garpatiop, Xe^ Ma^erite. A ^Tew Strain of Dwarf Perpetual Blooming Carna- tions which Flower in 3 or 4 Months from Seed. This is still the great flower-seed novelty of the times, and here is offered the prize strain of seeds. While others have sold seed which produced poor and single flowers, ours has always given at least 90 per cent, of the choicest double blossoms. The plant is of dwarf, compact and pretty habit, branching closely above the ground, with vigorous stalks which need not be supported by sticks. It flowers abun- dantly in a great variety of colors throughout the year, and the calyx never bursts. But what renders this variety far superior to any other is that the flowers appear in about three months after sowing the seed. Moreover it produces at least 80 per cent, of double flowers, which are large and perfect. The plants grow easy everywhere, both in sandy- soil or heavy loam, and will give the greatest satisfaction. Indeed, they signify an improvement on all other Carnations which nobody ever thought of. Think of getting Carnation* in flower from seed in about four months, which la-t throughout the winter, and of various colors, white, pink, scarlet, purple, red, striped, mottled, flaked, variegated, etc. We say without hesitation that it is the most important liower "seed novelty in many years. They are alike valu- able for pot culture and for garden. Do not sow cheap Mar- guerite Carnation seed 5 it will disappoint vou. Per pkt. Mixed Colors—Half dwarf, the finest strain, with large double blossoms, blooming in three months 10 Pure White—Extra Tine 10 Rosea—Fine, clear rose color 10 Scarlet—Deep, bright shades 10 Purple—A remarkable rich color 10 Violet—Fine violet color 10 Striped and Variegated—Many colors 10 New Dwarf—Plants of dwarf, .stout habit. a#d flowers extra large size and brilliant in colors. See cut above. A greatly improved strain. All colors mixed 15 Malmaison—The flowers are simply enormous in size, perfectly double, of a delicate blush color and strong clove fragrance. Growth very stout, with large, luxu- riant foliage. No other Carnation can compare witli this variety. The packet which we give contains 40 or 50 seeds, all of which will not come true, but if only one plant of Malmaison is seeured it is a prize well worth a dollar • 15 One each of the nine above offered for 60c. picotees. (Perennial.) The hardy garden Carnations are grown in Europe to a far greater extent than the pot varieties, yet strange to sa> they are hardly known in this country, owing Possibly to the fart that they have not been properly introduced. .The fact is they are perfectly hardv, standing the. winter in the open eround like a Sweet William and blooming most profusely in May and June. The flowers are extra large.and Pfitect in form very double and of every color, including fine yellows and dull( shades of blue. They bloom much more freely than green- house Carnations, a plant often showing 50 to 75 flowers. Carnation Pink, Early Dwarf Vienna- Mixed colors 10 Oarnation Pink,Erfurt Ciants-Extra large and extra line. Mixed colors 20 Carnation Pink, Pure White —Very line and true 20 Picotee Pink—Th-so are really hardy Carnations, with flowers more deli- cate than other pinks and pleasant- ly fragrant. Though hardy, they are stronger for a little protection over win- ter. Fine Mixed Colors, including a large ranere of beau- tiful shades 10
