Text Appearing After Image:
There is no tree which makes a more rapid growth and comes into bearing sooner after planting than the Peach. Trees small enough to go by mail will bear in three years. and their cost is so little that, every home in HHl^ our land should be abundantly supplied with this most valuable fruit. Everbearing—This isoneof the most remark- able of Peaches, as it combines many desir- able qualities which make it of meat value for family use. 1—Its long-continued bear- ing period. The first ripening begins about July, and successive crops are produced until the beginning of November. Fruit in all stiiges of development--ripe and half- grown may be seen upon the tree at the same time. Two-year-old trees bear freely. 2—As the tree blossoms during a long period a complete failure of fruit has never hap- pened since the original tree first began to bear, ten years ago. 3—The fruit is creamy white, mottled and striped with light pur- ple and with pink veins: oblong in shape, and tapering to the apex: flesh white with red veins near the skin : very juicy, vinous and of excellent flavor: qualify very best. Freestone of the Indian type, ho praise can do justice to this magnificent novelty. It is really one of the 11 nest things we ever offered. Good size, prolific, best quality and bears continually for three njpnths. 'What more can be desired? Fine trees for fruiting next year, by mail, 80C. each : 3 for 75c.: 7 for si.50. Holderbaum—This Champion of all Peaches originated in l880in Somerset. Pennsylvania, one" of the highest and coldest points on the • Mountains, where the mercury often drops to28 plow zero. The original tree is now jr. feet high ches in diameter at the base, with foliage sur- ivthing ever before seen in the nature of a Peach, s are < .f a dark, heavv green, measuring from 8 to in length. It has one valuable advantage in the its blossoms, which never open out like those of emain closed, with a heavy growth of moss-like fuzz covering the voting Peach and protecting it from heavy spring frosts. The size of "the matured fruit is immen-e. many specimens measuring from 12 to 14 inches in circumference. In color it is of a light eream- ycllow, with a beautiful red cheek on the sunny side. In texture it is very llrni, of line qualitv, and a perfect freestone. The pit is very small and the flesh light yellow, streaked with red from the surface to the center, and of most exquisite flavor. It ripens about August 15, thus making it one of the earliest of all freestone varieties, lor hardiness, vigorous growth and long life, it is certainly a wonderful Peach. 25c. each : 5 for $1.00.
