It is difficult t... describe llouvrs of such varied and peculiar bi these Gladiolus, ihey are much stronger and more vigorous s, the growth being exceedingly rank and the folia ly green. I hey are very tall and erect, often standingfo Ave feet high, with spikes ot bloom oyer two feet in length. They branch freely, in most cases each stem producing three or four â -, "i ni""in, and bloom much earlier thanordinarj variet ies "levers aiy .. greai substance and gigantic size, frequently a to nine inches across. The torm of both (lower is .Perfection itself, and they last in blooma long time petore tadmg, owing to their greai substance and vigor but tie' most remarkable feature is tl olor- nig. Orchids eamiot surpass them in their varied and delicate shades, markings and blendings. Every color idiolus is represented, and many never "â¢'â¢"'r ,,:";!i!'"l!!rlv, ""s- s,n"k>' grays and purple-blacks, all having beautiful mottledaudspotted throats made up of white, crimson, pink, yellow eti and in this peculiar net-work of charming spots ' and colors lies one of its special points of un- surpassed beauty. They far outrank all other Gladiolus in -f/.r of si,ike, size of ;,; ,; vigor, varied and magni.'iceiit coloring and reedom ol bloom. They were produced by Max Leichtin of Germany, the most noted horticulturalist in the world, and are the result of a careful cross between the finer varieties of Gandevensis and that lovely species Saundersoni.
