Summary
[edit]DescriptionChildren near block of flats, Corpus Christi feast-day, Coleraine Street, Dublin (33878949081).jpg |
Well scrubbed and turned out for the festive occasion of Corpus Christi, and in anticipation of a procession around the area to the nearby church on Halston Street. While the young ladies look so happy and charming with their focus on the camera, the wee boy with his focus on his ice-lolly is the star of the show for me! This charming shot would appear to have been taken from near the junction of Coleraine Street and North King Street. As [/photos/79549245@N06/ DannyM8] observes, the beautiful children who were aged between 3 and 8 then would now be 53 to 58, and indeed some of them may continue to live there! It would be interesting if they could be identified. [/photos/swordscookie/ Swordscookie] has recalled a slice of history that occurred there when Kevin Barry was arrested nearby. And those flats were later named after him! Stop Press - [/photos/dubpics/ monosnaps] names most of the names of the children as follows: Checking this out tall girl on the right looks like my cousin Margaret Mallin lived on Coleraine St with 13 other siblings. Girl on left I haven't identified yet. Four children bunched together are the McCue's Siobhan Deirdre Harry and Ken, two girls on the right are Margaret and Joan Mallin my cousins. Both families lived on Coleraine Street.
