English: Children's Play park on the site of the old Gas Works In the days of town gas, Llanberis was the only village in the central part of the Arfon slate belt that had its own gas works, and a smelly place it was too. With the arrival of natural gas, the works became redundant and eventually the site was turned into a children's play area. About ten years ago dangerous chemicals were found in the soil and remedial work had to be undertaken. T.Rowland Hughes' boyhood home can be seen in the background. |
