Description
English: A child waves the Union Flag as he watches HMS Ark Royal leave Portsmouth for the final time.

On the 20th May 2013, Aircraft Carrier HMS Ark Royal, the former Flagship of the Royal Navy, left Porsmouth for the last time.

Crowds, including former crew members, gathered in Portsmouth to see her off.

HMS Ark Royal saw active service based in the Adriatic during the Bosnian War and in the Persian Gulf for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

She was decommisioned as a result of the Strategic Defence and Security Review in 2010.
