Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Chilcote Pumping Station View north from Quarry Berry Lane. This water pumping station became operational in 1937 after completion of building work by Thomas Lowe and Sons of London. The site was chosen because the water table is very near to the surface and the rock formations provide a constant supply. Ground water is extracted from two bore holes and was originally pumped to a storage tank at Stretton en le Field. Chilcote is managed by Severn-Trent and now also supplies other holding tanks to provide mains water to the area.
