Description
Italiano: Aidone. Chiesa Madre di San Lorenzo. Il portale è la testimonianza dell'origine normanna della chiesa, costruita nell'XI sec., la più antica in Aidone. La chiesa fu gravemente danneggiata dal terremoto del 1693. La facciata fu ricostruita utilizzando il materiale antico: furono recuperate le due scanalature ad un lato della porta, che rappresentano le misure del palmo e della canna, ma non l’antica iscrizione i cui frammenti sono sparsi per tutta la facciata. Interessanti i colmi degli imponenti cantonali rifinite con caratteristiche forme a spirale, chiaramente settecenteschi.
