Italiano: I lavori per il cantiere della chiesa di Maria Santissima del Monte Carmelo iniziarono nel 1730 e si conclusero nel 1758. La facciata è barocca, attribuita a Mauro Manieri, architetto leccese i cui influssi borrominiani dipendono dalla sua formazione professionale svoltasi a Roma.
Nella chiesa sono conservate le tele della Madonna della Libera del 1660 attribuite al pittore martinese Giovanni Stefano Caramia, il crocifisso ligneo di Giacomo Vespasiano Genovini, scultore gallipolino, una Deposizione di suor Maria di Gesù Martucci, pittrice martinese, una copia della Natività della Vergine di Leonardo Antonio Olivieri, firmata dal De Mauro.
English: Work on the construction of the church of Maria Santissima del Monte Carmelo began in 1730 and ended in 1758. The façade is Baroque, attributed to Mauro Manieri, an architect from Lecce whose Borromini influences depend on his professional training held in Rome.
In the church are kept the paintings of the Madonna della Libera of 1660 attributed to the painter Giovanni Stefano Caramia, the wooden crucifix of Giacomo Vespasiano Genovini, gallipolino sculptor, a Deposition of Sister Mary of Jesus Martucci, martin painter, a copy of the Nativity of the Virgin of Leonardo Antonio Olivieri, signed by De Mauro.
Español: Los trabajos para la construcción de la iglesia de María Santísima del Monte Carmelo comenzaron en 1730 y terminaron en 1758. La fachada es barroca, atribuida a Mauro Manieri, un arquitecto de Lecce cuyas influencias de Borromini dependen de su formación profesional celebrada en Roma.
En la iglesia se conservan las pinturas de la Madonna della Libera de 1660 atribuidas al pintor Giovanni Stefano Caramia, el crucifijo de madera de Giacomo Vespasiano Genovini, el escultor Gallipolino, una Deposición de la Hermana María de Jesús Martucci, Martín pintor, una copia de la Natividad de la Virgen de Leonardo Antonio Olivieri, firmado por De Mauro.

L’ordine carmelitano giunge a Martina Franca in Puglia nel XVII sec. e si stabilizza nella preesistente struttura cinquecentesca dedicata alla ss. Maria della Misericordia, dove successivamente viene eretta l'attuale chiesa del Carmine. Nel 1614 iniziano i lavori per il convento e dopo qualche decennio partono i lavori per una nuova chiesa, dal momento in cui la chiesetta del XVI sec. risultava troppo angusta per i fedeli che vi si recavano.
