Summary
[edit]| Description | Former Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad Depot in Batavia (1854; since relocated). The Galena and Chicago Union Railroad was the main train line to the western suburbs, but bypassed Batavia and Aurora. The CB&Q emerged as a competitor to serve these communities. This was the CB&Q's first train station, so they took extra care in making it architecturally distinct. The CB&Q later abandoned the station to focus on Aurora-Chicago transit. | ||
