The flat-out best exhibit at the Auto Show this year was the test-drive track for the Chevy Volt, which wound among a real, growing lush green lawn, along with real hyacinths (which smelled awesome), daffodils, red tulips, evergreen shrubs, ivy, and live, flowering pear trees, with a blue-sky backdrop. The pictures don't do it justice. You could wait in line for a ride in one; you sat in the passenger seat while a Chevy staffer drove. There was no noise; these Volts were driven at 10-15 mph using only electric power. Total silence. Nice.
