Summary
[edit]DescriptionChestnut Street, Betts-Longworth Historic District, Cincinnati, OH (28226541278).jpg | These little rowhouses were built in pairs during the 19th Century in Cincinnati's West End. Located on Chestnut Street near Central Avenue, they were saved from the urban renewal that claimed much of the rest of the neighborhood, but one building with two units that sat between them was demolished during the period of neglect and disinvestment that occurred in the mid-20th Century, and the space occupied by that building remains empty to this day. That being said, this part of the West End, now known as the Betts-Longworth Historic District, has been lucky and is much better preserved than many other areas in the old West End, which was once a dense and vibrant urban neighborhood akin to Boston's North End or New York's Greenwich Village. |
