Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Chester Enterprise Centre. A view from the station of the Chester Enterprise Centre (old railway building with a red canopy). This is a local government initiative of the former Cheshire County Council. Quoting from an article on the Chester Chronicle website:

"The centre, opposite Chester Station at Hoole Bridge, is one of a county-wide network, dating back to the early 1980s. Launched by Cheshire County Council, they provide accommodation for small businesses alongside business advice and training services provided on site by companies such as Cheshire and Warrington Business Venture which manages the centre on a day-to-day basis. The six centres, from Ellesmere Port to Congleton, provide accommodation for 160 businesses, two thirds of which have been formed in the last five years [to 2008]. The Chester centre, the largest in the County's network, is home to almost 100 small business units varying in size from 100sq ft to 2,000sq ft."

Cheshire CC ceased to exist in April 2009, the future of the Enterprise Centre may therefore be uncertain.

The industrial buildings in the distance on this 1991 photograph appear from an aerial photo to have been replaced by a housing estate. Another contributor pointed to this link http://www.chesterwiki.com/Lightfoot_Street_Fire by way of explanation.
