Description Chester Cathedral, England. The cathedral seen from the east looking towards the south transept. The South transept has Flowing Decorated windows in the aisle, and Perpendicular Gothic windows in the clerestory. The earlier stage of the South Transept, including a magnificent multi-light Flowing Decorated south window, ceased in 1374, with the onset of bubonic plague and was not taken up again for 100 years. The friable Red Sandstone building was heavily restored in the 19th century.
