English: This pencil-work reflects a chapter of the Chess of Nature - with the ultimate goal to celebrate the beauty of the indigenous Yorùbá language.
In sum, this multilingual artwork is a localized tutorial on how to play the game of Chess in Yorùbá language.[1] The #ChessinYoruba pencil drawing birthed #ChessinHausa and #ChessinIgbo, alongside, the pencil drawing of the Chess pieces herein were used for more than 100 illustrative images in the Quadrilingual book, titled; "Nigerian Chess Book in Hausa, Igbo, and Yorùbá Languages. Also, the pencil drawing of the Chess pieces were used in building the web apps.This pencil drawing attracted a wide social media attention/audience after it was tweeted by Tunde Onakoya.[2] CHESS IN YORUBA LANGUAGE (AYÒ’O ṢẸ́Ẹ̀SÌ NÌ ÈDÈ Y’OÒBÁ)Here's the introductory aspect of the Nigerian Chess Book in Hausa, Igbo, and Yorùbá Languages INTRODUCTION (Ọ̀RỌ̀ ÀKỌ́SỌ) This is a Chapter of the book, titled; “The Chess of Nature” – By Jawolusy Oluwaseun. – (Éléyìí jẹ́ ipele kan láti inú ìwé tí orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́; “The Chess of Nature” láti ọ̀wọ́’ọ Jawolusy Oluwaseun) It is an English- translation on how to play the smart game called Chess, - (Ó jẹ́ aáyan ògbùfọ̀ bí a șe ń gbá ayò ajáfáfá tí a ń pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Shẹ́ẹ̀sì) fostering knowledge-substitute for kids via a localized chess education. – ( isẹ́ yìí ń șe ìpèsè ìrọ́pò-ìmọ̀ fún àwon èwe ní ipasẹ̀ ẹ̀kọ́’ọ Shẹ́ẹ̀sì ní èdè abíbibí’i Yo’òbá. ) The Author once said: “A child who understands the concept of Chess would surely excel in any field of study…” - ( Olùk’ọ̀wé yìí sọ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí ní ìgbà kan rí: “ọmọdé tí ó bá leè ní làákàyè fún ìmọ̀-òye bí a șe ń gbá ayò‘o Shẹ́ẹ̀sì yíóò leè t’ayọ nínú n kíkọ́ ẹ̀kọ́-k’ẹ́kọ̀’ọ́…”) To cut the long story short, - (Lái f’ọ̀rọ̀gùn,) The importance of these writings is to celebrate the beauty of Yorùbá Language, - (Ìse-Pàtàkì àkọsílẹ̀ yìí ni lá ti gbé ẹwà èdè’e Yorùbá l’árugẹ,) and to also serve as a leverage for Nigerian Southerners to learn Chess in their indigenous language. - (àti láti jẹ́kí àwọn ọmọ ilẹ̀’ẹ káà’árò-oòjíire’e kọ́ bí a șẹ ń gbá ayò’o Ṣẹ́ẹ̀sì ní èdè abínibí’i wọn.) You know… “There’s always a story behind every work of art; its beauty is in its discovery…” – ( O mọ̀… “Ìtàn kan máa ń wà l’ẹ́yìn isẹ́ ìyàwòrán; ẹwà’a rẹ̀ ń bẹ nínú n ìsàwárí’i rẹ̀…”)
