Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 27 September 2008. Chesnut Grove N17. The same idiosyncratic system for painting Controlled Parking Zone lines as in nearby streets - lines which did not then comply with Statutory Regulations and the Department for Transport Traffic Signs Manual.

On that date, four parking bays at both ends of the street had incorrect double white end line. (As shown in these three photos). The other end lines (in the middle of Chesnut Grove) did have correct single end lines.

You'll also see that there were no 'termination' or a 'T-bars' at the ends of the double yellow lines shown in the photo. (The correct marking is shown here just three streets away in the recently resurfaced and re-marked Ladysmith Road.) It is required: "at each end of a line, where one type of line changes to another . . . [or] where it abuts a bay marking." ( Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 5, paragraph 20.3 ) _______________________

Following sustained pressure by former councillor Ray Dodds and me, Haringey's Urban Environment Department eventually conceded they had indeed got things wrong. The lines within Tottenham Hale CPZ were corrected and repainted between 27 April - 18 May 2009.
