English: Ten worked chert and two flint fragments. The new finds are a
1 - Chert core possibly Neolithic or Bronze Age with three blade strikes on the ventral face. The colour is mid grey with white banding on the upper and lower edges. The length is 25mm, width 17mm, thickness 10mm and the weight 6.93g. 2 - Waste chert flake possibly Bronze Age with striking platform, two striking scars on the ventral face and one on the dorsal. The colour is mid grey with white banding on the upper and lower edges. The length is 22mm, width 11mm, thickness 8mm and the weight 2.32g. 3 - Possible Mesolithic chert core possibly with striking platform and striking scars on every face. The colour is dark grey. The length is 7mm, width 7mm, thickness 5mm and the weight 0.41g. 4 - Waste chert flake possibly Mesolithic with striking platform. The colour is light grey. The length is 9mm, width 4mm, thickness 4mm and the weight 0.17g. 5 - Mesolithic chert possible microlith with striking platform, one striking scar on the ventral face and two striking scars on the dorsal face. The colour is mid grey. The length is 12mm, width 7mm, thickness 3mm and the weight .38g. 6 - Mesolithic chert possible microlith with striking platform, two striking scars on the ventral face and one striking scar on the dorsal face. The colour is mid grey. The length is 10mm, width 6mm, thickness 2mm and the weight .13g. 7 - Possibly Bronze Age worked chert broken drill bit. The colour is dark grey. There are blade scars on every facet and a clear break at the top. The length is 12mm, width 5mm, thickness 4mm and the weight .37g. Unlike all the other items in this assembly, this chert comes from nearby Pot Brinks Moor. 8 - Possibly Bronze Age worked chert broken drill bit. The colour is light to mid grey. There are striking scars on every facet and a clear break at the top. The length is 10mm, width 5mm, thickness 4mm and the weight .28g. 9 - Waste flint flake possibly Mesolithic with striking scars on every facet. The colour is yellowish brown. The length is 18mm, width 16mm, thickness 5mm and the weight 1.68g. 10 - Mesolithic flint broken microlith with striking platform, two striking scars on the ventral face and one striking scar on the dorsal face. The colour is whitish yellow. The length is 7mm, width 4mm, thickness 3mm and the weight .04g. 11 - Mesolithic chert microlith with two fine scars on the ventral face and two striking scars on the dorsal face. The colour is mid grey with a third of the dorsal face having an area of adhering calcite or quartzite. The length is 6mm, width 4mm, thickness 1mm and the weight .01g. 12 - Possible Mesolithic chert core possibly with striking platform and striking scars on most faces. The colour is mid to dark grey. The length is 10mm, width 9mm, thickness 5mm and the weight .55g. |
