Summary

[edit]
Description

Work continues on pruning the Linden trees that line the mall area below the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Jan. 5. The most substantial pruning takes place in the winter. The contracting crew uses strings, levels, measuring tape, and various kinds of trimming tools to help achieve the precise, chiseled look. The winter pruning process takes about a month, with a second "touch up" pruning in the late summer that takes about two weeks. In the March timeframe, the cemetery will be replacing some of the trees on the north hedge.
